2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hemi :: Fully Customized By Krazy House Customs

Based on Jeep's best off-roading platform to date, this JK was taken in by Krazy House Customs and built to follow Jeep's current philosophy of "having fun out there". In fact you could say it was built to have a little too much fun, if there was such a thing.

This JK started out as a stock 2 door 2007 Rubicon and was promptly modified with a custom suspension lift in order to fit 35" tires and to improve its off-road prowess. It remained this way for over a year until it became apparent that it had much more potential but was lacking in the horsepower department.

In mid 2009, after careful planning and decision making, the build finally got underway. It wasn't long before most of the car's suspension and engine bay was laying out in pieces in our shop, being cleaned and labeled for the reconstruction process.

A 6.1l Hemi from an SRT-8 was chosen as the new power plant to provide the needed kick in the pants. This was a no brainer given the availability of AEV's Hemi conversion kit which was also customized to better suit our goals. The new engine was matted to a Dodge 5-Speed automatic transmission and the ECU was reprogrammed to operate flawlessly with this new pairing. A set of Tom Woods customs driveshafts carry the power from the transfer case to the front and rear Dana 60 axles when in 4WD mode.

The Dana 60s have been stuffed with electronically locking differentials and 5.38:1 gears in order to get the best off-road traction and ratio possible for the 17" Raceline Beadlocks wrapped in 40" Wrangler MT/Rs. The stock brakes were also swapped out for larger ones to improve stopping power under the new load.

The body of the JK has been shielded with a number of goodies from River Raider including Rock Sliders, Crusher Corners and Tube Fenders. The previous bumpers were swapped out for new Teraflex RockGuard ones on both ends. A modified Teraflex swinging tire carrier sits on the back, it was modified in order to fit a full 40" spare tire in case of a blowout.

All of this sits approximately 16 inches higher than stock thanks to a custom designed long arm suspension. A set of Fox coilover shocks with remote reservoirs hold everything in place providing the most flex possible for off-road duty, while the custom springs provide the perfect balance for on and off-the-road driving.

After the project was completed, we ended up with a perfect balance of off-road capabilities and on-road performance. Hardcore enough to take on some of the toughest trails and nimble enough to shoot down the 1/4mile strip in 14.7 seconds. All in all, we feel that this could be the biggest, baddest Jeep around.
